NEVER AGAIN!!!

The idea of founding the Wings of Hope Foundation has appeared in 1994, within the curatorium of the Dachau Mermorial Centre, by the children of those who used to be imprisoned there, and who were terrified with the war tragedy of children in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"Treating traumata of war is a long process. It will take generations. I see the reactions of the mind to these traumata as normal and sound reactions to unsound happenings. We therefore need not to feel ashamed when we feel one day unhappy and/or guilty for being alive or when we cannot enjoy life, which we do from time to time. Or when we have nightmares and other unpleasant reactions.

Understanding this mechanism of the mind, finding its equilibrium, we wanted not to wait too long in treating and standing by those actually touched by the war in former Yugoslavia, irrespective ethnic provenance, religion and background.

With the knowledge acquired from the Second World War, we felt it is our duty to share that knowledge with you, in order to be of assistance to you in coping with the results of the last war. Thereby we note that it shall not be a short process. We reckon with assistance of many years to those who were touched directly, which category we name the "first generation" as well as their offspring, which we name the "second generation".

Wings of Hope, established for this purpose, is committed to this work."
